Chennai, March 30 (NationPress) The Coimbatore Police are gearing up to summon and interrogate several high-profile individuals in the area after the apprehension of a significant drug dealer, who has disclosed his ties to nearly 50 influential figures, including doctors, engineers, and businessmen. This operation is part of a broader initiative aimed at dismantling drug syndicates operating within the city.

In recent days, authorities have made several arrests, including that of a Sub-Inspector's son, related to the drug network.

During the questioning of one suspect and through the examination of his mobile device, investigators found contact information and messages linking him to around 50 prominent individuals from Coimbatore.

Police sources have identified the main suspect, A. Ritesh Lamba (41), as the leader of the operation, reportedly keeping in touch with numerous VIPs in the region.

Officials have stated that everyone who has been in contact with Ritesh Lamba will be called in for questioning in the coming days.

A significant breakthrough occurred on Friday (March 29), with the police detaining seven individuals associated with the drug operation. These suspects include K. Manikandan (39), S. Vinayagam (34), V. Krishnakanth (34), M. Mahavishnu (28), D. Adarsh (24), A. Ritesh Lamba (41), and B. Rohan Shetty (30).

All apprehended individuals reside in various districts of Coimbatore. Notably, Mahavishnu is the son of Vijayalakshmi, who serves as a Sub-Inspector in the Economic Offences Wing of the Coimbatore Police.

Authorities seized a substantial amount of narcotics during this operation, including 24.40 grams of MDMA (ecstasy), 12.47 grams of MDMA powder, 92.43 grams of cocaine, 1.62 kg of green ganja, 1.01 kg of dry ganja, and 1.68 kg of Kush (a potent form of cannabis). Additionally, police recovered Rs 25 lakh in cash, a cash counting machine, four digital scales, a significant amount of premium liquor, three vehicles, and 12 mobile phones.

Investigations have indicated that the group sourced MDMA and cocaine from Maharashtra, while the ganja and Kush were obtained from Himachal Pradesh.

The suspects were reportedly leading lavish lifestyles funded by their illicit drug trade. One individual was found to be in the process of constructing a house in Kovaipudur, with others owning properties in the upscale Teachers Colony area. Legal actions have commenced to freeze 12 bank accounts associated with drug-related transactions and to confiscate the suspects’ properties.
