Telangana Congress Leader Challenges KTR to Prove His Innocence with Drug Test
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, March 15 (NationPress) The president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), Mahesh Kumar Goud, publicly challenged the BRS working president, K. T. Rama Rao, to take a drug test.
He announced that all Congress MLAs and MLCs are prepared to participate in a drug test during the upcoming Assembly session, which starts on Monday, and he questioned whether KTR and other BRS legislators were willing to do the same.
Goud accused the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of enabling widespread drug usage in the state. He pointed out the growing suspicions surrounding KTR and his associates after former MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy tested positive during a police raid at a suspected drug party held at his farmhouse in Moinabad.
He commended the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) for executing the raid, insisting that there was no political angle involved.
The TPCC chief stated that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is dedicated to creating a 'drugs-free Telangana', and that EAGLE is actively conducting raids as part of this initiative.
In a related event, Congress MLC Balmoor Venkat and his supporters staged a protest in Hyderabad, burning an effigy of KTR while chanting 'No Drugs No KTR'.
Venkat extended a challenge to the BRS leader to take a drug test and release the results publicly.
He reiterated claims that KTR has a history of drug use, asserting that several of KTR's associates and family members have faced drug-related charges.
Furthermore, Venkat urged KTR to demonstrate his integrity by expelling Rohit Reddy from the party.
Congress MLA Manohar Reddy criticized the BRS, suggesting that while Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is striving for a drug-free Telangana, the BRS is allegedly supporting drug users.
He mentioned that Rohit Reddy has been implicated in drug cases in both Bengaluru and Dubai.
Following a raid conducted by the EAGLE team at the Moinabad farmhouse, six individuals, including TDP MP Putta Mahesh Kumar and Rohit Reddy, tested positive for drugs. The EAGLE team subsequently handed these individuals over to the Moinabad police, who are expected to present them to a magistrate later today.
