Bhubaneswar, Feb 13 (NationPress) Veteran Congress figure and former Union Minister Kanhu Charan Lenka passed away in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Friday at the age of 86.

Lenka had a remarkable social and political journey that spanned several decades, holding various portfolios in both the state and central governments throughout his prominent career.

He was a Member of Parliament from Odisha from 1988 to 1994 and served as Minister of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Railways from 1991 to 1994.

Additionally, Lenka represented the Choudwar Assembly constituency in the Odisha Legislative Assembly multiple times from 1971 to 2000.
