Gurugram, Feb 19 (NationPress) The Congress party, seeking inspiration from a better showing in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections despite a recent setback in the Delhi Assembly polls, is gearing up to challenge the ruling BJP in the forthcoming civic body elections by addressing several local concerns.

The party plans to focus on significant issues such as waterlogging, pollution, the ongoing construction of the Sheetla Mata temple, and road development in Gurugram.

Since the civic elections were announced in early February, the Congress has been actively preparing.

After the election dates were revealed, the Congress established multiple committees, convening meetings at various levels to assign responsibilities.

Prominent party figures are part of the campaign and manifesto committee.

Insights on civic election issues have been gathered from senior leaders across the district.

The party intends to vocally highlight the challenges of waterlogging, pollution, road construction, and other urban concerns during the campaign.

Party volunteers will engage in door-to-door outreach, informing residents about the BJP's failures and the Congress's initiatives.

One Congress leader stated that this election will see a focus on waterlogging, pollution, the establishment of the civil hospital, the Sheetla Mata temple, road construction, traffic congestion, and parking issues in Gurugram. A mere few hours of rain results in knee-deep waterlogging.

The traffic situation deteriorates on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway due to waterlogging. This has been the reality in the Millennium City for the past decade.

"The construction of the Sheetla Mata temple within the city remains unfinished. The traffic conditions in old Gurugram are poor. All these matters will be brought to the forefront during the elections. Voters will be urged to consider the dismal state of roads and public facilities.

"The BJP government made numerous pledges to secure power. However, none have been realized. The city's sewerage system has collapsed. The BJP has also failed to resolve the waterlogging issues. The roads in both old and new Gurugram are in disrepair, with waste piling up everywhere. Congress leaders will address all these concerns during the campaign," said Karan Singh Dalal, former Haryana minister and senior Congress leader.
