Key Takeaways
Jabalpur, March 10 (NationPress) Four police officials, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), faced suspension on Tuesday due to alleged security oversights at the Jabalpur bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
This decision was taken following a shocking incident where a man, identified as Dayashankar Pandey from Rewa district, entered a courtroom carrying a foetus in his bag on Monday.
Dayashankar gained access to the court premises through gate number-6. The startling event came to light when he revealed the foetus from his bag, placing it on the dais in front of the judge, pleading for justice.
The foetus was reportedly his wife's stillborn child following a miscarriage, as stated by police authorities.
The Registrar General's office at the Madhya Pradesh High Court confirmed to IANS that the incident occurred in the courtroom of Justice Himanshu Joshi. The courtroom was left in utter disbelief, prompting immediate notification to the security personnel present.
This alarming occurrence has raised serious concerns about security protocols within the court premises.
In response, Jabalpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Sampat Upadhyay took decisive action, suspending four police officers on Tuesday: ASI Munna Ahirwar, Head Constable Brahmadutt Khatri, Head Constable Arun Upadhyay, and Constable Pratik Sonkar, all responsible for monitoring gate number-6.
Reports indicate that Dayashankar Pandey had previously filed a petition regarding police inaction, with a hearing scheduled for Monday. In his petition, he alleged multiple attacks on his family by unidentified individuals in Gurh town, Rewa district, and claimed that despite numerous complaints to local police, no action had been taken.
