Hyderabad, Jan 20 (NationPress) BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao issued a stark warning to police officers in Telangana on Tuesday, implying that they may soon find themselves as victims in Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's political maneuvers. He accused several police officials of allegedly fabricating charges against his party members and asserted that once the BRS regains power, they will not be lenient towards these officers, even if they have since retired.
“We will not overlook those who file cases, fully aware that they are unlawful. The officers claiming 'If there were an Emergency, all of you would be behind bars' should also bear this in mind,” he stated during a press briefing.
Rama Rao did not hold back in criticizing CM Reddy regarding the notice from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) directed at BRS leader T. Harish Rao concerning a phone-tapping incident, asserting that every day is not identical and that the BRS will reclaim power in two years.
“Regardless of the tactics they employ under the guise of arbitrary SIT investigations, we shall persist in questioning the Congress party's unfulfilled promises and administrative shortcomings,” he maintained.
He posed the question of why no officer has publicly addressed the phone-tapping allegations to date.
“They have issued notices on this matter even after the Supreme Court confirmed that no phone tapping occurred in Telangana. Even if they dispatch 1,000 more notices or if the SIT initiates another 100 cases, our questioning of the government will not cease,” he stated.
Rama Rao emphasized that the BRS embodies the self-respect of Telangana's populace, its strength, and its voice, assuring that they will not be intimidated by notices sent to party president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
He suggested that if a SIT is genuinely necessary, it should be established to investigate the wrongdoing, corruption, and illegal activities of the ministers.
Rama Rao alleged that the notice issued to Harish Rao was a direct consequence of his exposure of the coal scam involving CM Reddy's brother-in-law.
“If the claims Harish Rao made regarding the coal scam are untrue, why have neither the relevant minister nor the Singareni officials come forward to clarify?” he questioned.
He accused them of manipulating Singareni tenders, with Reddy's brother-in-law, Srujan Reddy, at the center of the scheme. According to him, the Chief Minister's family currently controls nine Singareni tenders.
“Unlike previous practices where tenders were submitted at discounted rates, bids are now being placed above the estimated costs. They treat Singareni as a goldmine, implementing a rule that allows for the plundering of funds. They mandated an unprecedented requirement that bidding companies conduct a site visit and obtain a site visit certificate from Singareni officials,” he explained.
He further alleged that they collected company information and details from all visitors during the site visit and resorted to intimidation. Srujan Reddy is reportedly threatening individuals directly, and if anyone refuses to yield to his demands for the certificate, the eligible companies are denied the site visit certification.
Commenting on CM Reddy's enrollment in a leadership program at Harvard University, Rama Rao expressed hope that he would improve post-study.
“It appears he may insult the professors and students who communicate in English, similar to his behavior here. He insists that he does not know English and does not need to. So, what will he learn there in English? What will he present? How will he earn a certificate?” he questioned.
