Mumbai, March 18 (NationPress) The Maharashtra Cultural Affairs Minister, Ashish Shelar, announced on Tuesday during the Assembly session that a magnificent cultural centre and museum will soon be established in Mumbai.
"Maharashtra boasts a rich cultural heritage, and it is the responsibility of the state government to protect and promote it. In line with this vision, a state cultural centre and museum will be constructed in the capital city, Mumbai. This cultural centre will include a grand auditorium, specialized art galleries, and a research facility, serving as a vital link for cultural exchanges on both national and international levels. It will not only draw tourists from inside and outside the country but also provide an esteemed platform for artists globally," stated Shelar.
"The State Museum will be instrumental in preserving Maharashtra's ancient artifacts, including items discovered through archaeological digs, rare artworks, historical artifacts, sculptures, inscriptions, ancient manuscripts, traditional textiles, and weaponry. By safeguarding these priceless historical pieces, the museum will connect future generations to Maharashtra's profound legacy," he continued.
The Minister further emphasized the necessity of a state-level cultural centre and museum in Mumbai to encapsulate the diverse culture of Maharashtra.
"To guarantee top-tier infrastructure for this project, a plot measuring 14,418 square metres has been earmarked in the Bandra-Kurla Complex, part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority. This land will be transferred at no cost from the Revenue department to the Cultural Affairs department for the establishment of this landmark State Cultural Centre and Museum," he concluded.
