Following directives from Superintendent of Police (SP) Jyeshtha Maitreyi, the cyber unit showcased notable efficiency and vigilance during the ongoing 'Mule Hunter' initiative aimed at combating cybercrime.

The victim, Babulal Prajapat, residing in Dhamun Khurd within Sawai Madhopur, became a target of cybercriminals who sent him a harmful APK file masquerading as the YONO SBI mobile app through WhatsApp. Officials indicated that Prajapat, unaware of the danger, proceeded to download the file, consequently compromising his mobile device.

In a matter of moments, Rs 99,998 was illicitly withdrawn from his bank account, officials confirmed.

Upon receiving the complaint, the cyber police acted promptly.

Under the leadership of SP Maitreyi and Additional Superintendent of Police Vijay Singh, the team initiated an investigation, as stated by officials.

With the supervision of Circle Officer (Cyber) Jaiprakash Atal, the police traced the misappropriated funds to an account at The Gayatri Co-operative Urban Bank Limited.

Quickly, the police collaborated with the bank's Nodal Officer, successfully placing a hold on the suspicious account.

This swift action ensured that the entire amount was secured before it could be further misappropriated, as confirmed by officials.

The funds were then returned to the complainant's account, providing much-needed relief to the victim.

Authorities have reiterated the importance of caution when downloading applications from unverified sources or clicking on dubious links.
