Patna, Feb 28 (NationPress) The Hindustani Awam Morcha Secular (HAMS), under the leadership of Jitan Ram Manjhi, is set to conduct a Dalit Samagam at Gandhi Maidan, Patna on Friday. This event plays a crucial role in the party's strategy for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, as it aims to demonstrate its influence.

More than one lakh individuals from the Dalit, Mahadalit, and marginalized communities of Bihar are anticipated to participate in the gathering.

Santosh Kumar Suman, the national president of the party, mentioned that notable NDA figures, such as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, RLM President and Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha, among others, are expected to be present at the event.

The Dalit Samagam intends to attract the attention of Dalit and Mahadalit populations ahead of the assembly elections.

“We reviewed the final preparations at Gandhi Maidan this morning. Arrangements for transportation, lodging, and meals have been finalized for attendees. Supporters have initiated their arrival in Patna,” Suman stated.

With the budget session of the Bihar Legislature commencing on the same day, political analysts suggest that the Dalit Samagam will act as a launchpad for the NDA's election initiative. Jitan Ram Manjhi and other high-ranking NDA leaders are expected to deliver key speeches during the assembly.

Leaders from the Vanchit Scheduled Caste Front have also pledged their support for the Dalit Samagam. Dr Sanjay Valmiki, the convener of the Vanchit Scheduled Caste Front, confirmed participation from 18 Scheduled Caste communities in the rally.

“The Vanchit Dalit Samaj has provided its full backing to HAMS, stressing crucial demands such as the classification of scheduled castes, the establishment of a dedicated commission, and reservation,” Valmiki noted.

The upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, slated for October-November, lend political significance to this assembly.

Recent cabinet changes by Nitish Kumar saw HAMS leader Santosh Suman lose two important departments—Information Technology was reassigned to Krishna Kumar Mantu, and Disaster Management went to Vijay Mandal.

Speculations indicate that Jitan Ram Manjhi’s party may express discontent toward the BJP and JDU regarding this alteration.
