Patna, Sep 4 (NationPress) The National Convention of Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) wrapped up on Thursday at the Constitution Club in New Delhi, representing a pivotal moment in the party’s strategy for the forthcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
The event was inaugurated by party patron and Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, with the sessions led by national president Santosh Kumar Suman and moderated by Rajesh Pandey and national spokesperson Shyam Sundar Sharan.
Attendees included all MLAs, state presidents, national and state officials, along with hundreds of dedicated workers from different regions.
The focus of the convention was on enhancing organizational strength, gearing up for elections, and broadening the party’s influence in Bihar and beyond.
During the event, a total of 10 significant resolutions were unanimously approved, which addressed issues such as a censure motion against the INDIA alliance for allegedly disrespecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother, a call for 5 decimals of land to be allocated to each Dalit family for housing, the necessity for a uniform education system across the state, and a resolution to contest a greater number of seats in the Bihar elections.
Additional demands included granting agricultural land ownership to landless families, Dalits, backward classes, and ex-servicemen, as well as a focus on the return and rehabilitation of migrant workers from Bihar. There was also a call to enhance social security schemes, including pensions for senior citizens, and to motivate workers to ensure that welfare programs reach the underprivileged.
In his speech, Jitan Ram Manjhi reminded attendees that only a month remains before the Assembly elections and urged them to ramp up grassroots engagement.
He advocated for expanding postal ballot facilities to migrant workers, ensuring that those employed outside Bihar can cast their votes.
He also emphasized the advantages of reduced GST rates, highlighting the cuts from 28 percent to 18 percent and from 12 percent to 5 percent, which he claimed have yielded historic benefits for the impoverished and laborers.
Manjhi noted that 34 decisions made during his tenure as Chief Minister are still pending implementation and called for their prompt execution.
“HAM’s position is robust within the NDA. Our value must be recognized, and booth committees should be established immediately in stronghold constituencies,” he directed.
Santosh Kumar Suman, in his presidential remarks, highlighted the government’s welfare initiatives, including a Rs 50,000 crore tender for road maintenance, financial aid of Rs 10,000 to Rs 2 lakh for women’s employment, and an increase in journalists’ pensions to Rs 15,000.
He commended the Chief Minister's Women Employment Scheme as a national model.
Encouraging workers to remain patient and disciplined, Suman stated, “The party will reward those who labor hard and strengthen the grassroots. Trust in the leadership—we will secure seats that meet your expectations.”
