Defence Entrepreneur Faces New Death Threats from International Extortionists: Delhi Police Investigate
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 3 (NationPress) A defence entrepreneur based in the city has recently received two alarming phone calls from overseas, threatening him with severe repercussions if he fails to comply with their demands.
The callers, purportedly leading figures in international extortion schemes located abroad, cautioned him that they would directly target him, despite the security measures in place. This comes several months after his home in Amritsar was attacked by armed intruders last August.
The Delhi Police have acknowledged a report submitted by defence entrepreneur Sahil Luthra, who disclosed that he has received new death threats from an overseas syndicate operating out of Portugal and Germany. The case has been escalated to the Special Cell of the Delhi Police for a comprehensive investigation.
In his report at the Chanakyapuri police station, Luthra mentioned that he received two calls from international numbers linked to Portugal and Germany on February 26. The callers claimed responsibility for the shooting incident at his Amritsar residence during the night of November 29–30 last year and issued further threats.
They allegedly informed Luthra that any future assaults would be aimed directly at him and demonstrated knowledge of the security arrangements surrounding him, insisting that these would not deter potential attacks.
The investigative team is looking into connections between this incident and previous threats made against well-known figures such as actor Ranveer Singh and director Rohit Shetty.
Luthra serves as the Managing Director of Vijayen Trishul Defence Solutions (VTDS), a company involved in defence manufacturing. His complaint indicates that he has been threatened since October 2024, coinciding with the announcement of the company's expansion plans in Punjab.
In August 2025, he was reportedly coerced into paying a sum of Rs 10 crore. Authorities are currently evaluating whether this demand aligns with other major extortion cases under their scrutiny.
The investigation into the shooting at Luthra's Amritsar residence is ongoing. Recent instances involving public personalities have seen gunfire directed at their properties as intimidation tactics. The police are checking for any operational links to these incidents.
Furthermore, the complaint indicates that the threats were made via VoIP calls traced to various countries, including Portugal, Germany, Canada, and the United States.
In May 2025, the firm faced attempted cyber intrusions targeting its official email and social media accounts, some of which appeared to originate from accounts suspected to be controlled from Pakistan.
