Delhi Elections: AAP and BJP Clash Over Development and Land Mafia in Vikaspuri

New Delhi, Jan 12 (NationPress) With the Delhi Assembly elections around the corner, a fierce debate has ignited between three-time AAP MLA Mahinder Yadav and BJP candidate Pankaj Singh in the Vikaspuri constituency.

Singh has labeled Yadav a "land mafia" and accused him of failing to advance the area's development, to which Yadav vehemently contested, asserting that his efforts will lead to a resounding victory.

Yadav, who is running for election for the fourth time, displayed confidence in his re-election prospects.

"We will contest and secure victory in a significant manner. BJP leaders like Singh, who was once my colleague, are now our opponents. I triumphed over him just two years ago in the municipal election, and this time, we will defeat him by an even larger margin, ensuring he does not run for office again," Yadav stated to IANS.

In response to the "land mafia" accusations, Yadav defended his record and way of life.

"I must point out that Pankaj Singh served as a Municipal Councillor for a decade without making any significant contributions, whereas I have accomplished much. I don’t reside in a large mansion, nor do I have bodyguards or dogs to deter visitors. I continue to live in the modest home I have always occupied," Yadav remarked.

"He may attempt to link the land mafia issue to me, but the community is aware of who is genuinely working hard. If he wishes to compete, he must engage in the field; and the field belongs to us," Yadav added.

This exchange occurred after Singh, a two-time Municipal Councillor, criticized Yadav for prioritizing his interests over those of the public.

"I would assert that he has only improved his own property. He appointed his nephew as a contractor—this is his notion of development. Vikaspuri has become littered under his administration. Activities related to the land mafia are widespread, and the public is aware of this," Singh alleged while speaking to IANS.

Singh claimed that no significant development has occurred, stating: "Critical issues in the constituency such as insufficient drinking water, poor drainage systems, and unpaved roads remain unresolved."

"Vikaspuri faces numerous challenges, and much work is still pending. The primary concern is the land mafia, which will be eliminated under our leadership. The community deserves better," Singh asserted.

The contest in Vikaspuri is evolving into a contest of integrity and development, with both candidates striving to convince voters of their dedication to progress. While Yadav relies on his "grassroots efforts" and longstanding presence in the constituency, Singh presents himself as a new option committed to tackling persistent issues.
