New Delhi, Jan 16 (NationPress) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate representing Jangpura and the former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, officially submitted his nomination on Thursday for the forthcoming Assembly elections.
Following the submission, he stated, "Today I have submitted my nomination from Jangpura, hoping that the public will extend the same support they have shown to Arvind Kejriwal's team over the last decade."
"If I am elected as the MLA of Jangpura, I will stand by the residents in both their joys and sorrows, committing myself to enhance their future by improving the education and healthcare sectors. This sentiment motivated my nomination," he expressed.
"Under Kejriwal's administration, notable improvements have been made in the lives of Delhi citizens. Kejriwal possesses a vision for the city and its inhabitants," he remarked, referencing AAP's pledges for welfare initiatives such as the Mahila Samman Yojana, Sanjeevani Yojana, and Pujari-Granthi Samman Yojana.
Criticizing the BJP, he referred to them as "a factory of lies" and insisted that the party should clarify its Chief Ministerial candidate.
On the previous day, accompanied by AAP supporters, Sisodia conducted a roadshow that attracted a significant crowd of enthusiasts waving party banners and displaying images of the former Deputy Chief Minister.
He also prayed at the historic Angoori Temple in Kilokari to seek divine guidance prior to submitting his nomination paperwork.
The AAP has nominated Sisodia from the Jangpura Assembly constituency rather than his usual base, Patparganj. He will compete against BJP's Tarvinder Singh Marwah and Congress's Farhad Suri in the election.
The voting for Delhi's 70 Assembly seats is set for February 5, with vote counting on February 8. AAP, which won 67 seats in 2015 and maintained a majority with 62 seats in 2020, is pursuing a third consecutive term.
The BJP, having improved its tally from three seats in 2015 to eight in 2020, aims to increase its presence, while Congress looks to reclaim its footing after not winning any seats in the past two elections.
