Delhi Assembly Elections: BJP Amplifies Campaign Against AAP, Labels Kejriwal 'AAPda-e-Azam'

New Delhi, Jan 11 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has ramped up its poster campaign against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), specifically targeting the party's National Convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, in anticipation of the Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February 5. In response, the AAP has launched its own posters, branding the BJP as the 'Gaali Galoch Party'.
On Saturday, the BJP debuted a provocative poster referring to Kejriwal as 'Sheesh Mahal wale AAPda-e-Azam'. The Delhi BJP shared this on X, proclaiming, 'Delhi ki Janta ne thaana hai, Sheesh Mahal wale AAPda-e-Azam ko hatana hai' (Delhi's citizens are determined to oust the Sheesh Mahal's AAPda-e-Azam).
This action was a counter to an AAP poster aimed at the BJP, featuring Ramesh Bidhuri, the BJP candidate from Kalkaji, labeling the BJP as the 'Gaali Galoch Party'. The AAP captioned this on X, 'Gaalibaaz party ka gaalibaaz CM chehra' (Abusive CM face of an abusive party).
The BJP and AAP are engaged in a fierce contest for Delhi, with BJP's Parvesh Verma running against Kejriwal in the New Delhi Assembly seat, while Ramesh Bidhuri faces off against Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and Congress candidate Alka Lamba in Kalkaji. Congress's Sandeep Dikshit is also contesting for the New Delhi seat, adding complexity to the race.
Previously, the BJP had released a series of posters and social media content highlighting what they claim are the AAP's governance failures.
The BJP accused the Kejriwal administration of mismanagement, dubbing it 'Aap-da for Delhi', asserting, 'In the rain, Delhi turns into a city of lakes; Mohalla Clinics have turned into clinics of deaths; AAP promised schools but opened bars instead; less medicine, more alcohol; The capital is parched for clean drinking water, while pothole-riddled roads endanger lives; garbage mountains have sprung up since the AAP-controlled MCD took charge.'
One of the BJP's posters underscored the advantages of a 'double-engine government', stating, 'Delhi's development will gain momentum when there is a double-engine government. Dilli ke dil mein Modi.'
The AAP, which secured victories in the 2015 and 2020 Assembly elections by significant margins, is now aiming for a third consecutive term.
Meanwhile, the Congress is striving to regain its foothold in Delhi after being eliminated in the last two Assembly elections. The Congress was allied with the AAP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections but is contesting independently in the Assembly polls.
Vote counting for the Delhi Assembly elections will take place on February 8.
