Delhi Elections: Kejriwal Invites BJP's CM Candidate Ramesh Bidhuri for Public Debate

New Delhi, Jan 11 (NationPress) Former Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, made a striking announcement on Saturday, stating that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has selected Ramesh Bidhuri, a former MP, as its Chief Ministerial candidate for the forthcoming Assembly elections. He also extended an invitation for a public debate, asserting his position as the primary CM face of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
During a press conference held in the capital, Kejriwal remarked, “Our information indicates that the BJP has confirmed Ramesh Bidhuri as their Chief Ministerial candidate. The BJP’s Central Election Committee (CEC) convened yesterday and finalized his candidacy. His name is expected to be officially announced in the next couple of days.”
Kejriwal further claimed that the BJP is apprehensive about losing and, as a result, is delaying the announcement of their CM candidate.
“I have been the designated CM face for my party from the start. Why hasn’t the BJP made their announcement yet?” he questioned.
The AAP leader challenged the BJP’s future CM candidate to participate in a public debate and insisted that he outline his vision and plans for Delhi.
“A public debate should occur between the BJP’s CM candidate and representatives from other parties, including us. He must clarify what he has accomplished for the capital over the past decade. The public deserves to understand his vision for Delhi, what he has done for the city, and his plans for its future growth.”
Additionally, he accused the BJP of manipulating the electoral rolls by registering 'fake voters'.
Referring to Sanjay Singh’s allegations regarding an unexpected increase in voter registrations from the residences of BJP MPs and former MPs, he claimed that the BJP is growing desperate and anxious about its prospects in the upcoming elections.
“Certain specific slum areas have submitted applications for registering 30-40 voters, and some shops have applied for the registration of numerous voters,” he alleged, questioning the source of these 'fictitious' voters.
Earlier in the day, AAP MP Sanjay Singh held a press conference where he accused former BJP MP Parvesh Verma and several parliamentarians of utilizing their residences for 'fake' voter registrations.
“In the previous Lok Sabha elections, there were only 2-4 votes registered at the residences of these MPs; now applications have been filed for registering 30-40 voters,” he claimed.
For the upcoming 2025 Delhi elections, the AAP has announced the names of all its candidates, while the BJP has revealed 29 candidates so far. Another list of 41 candidates is anticipated to be announced shortly, according to sources.
