Parvesh Verma Challenges Kejriwal as BJP Unveils Initial Candidate List for Delhi Elections

New Delhi, Jan 4 (NationPress) The intense electoral contest in Delhi is escalating as political factions sharpen their critiques against one another while exchanging barbs and counter-barbs.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took a significant step into the electoral arena on Saturday by revealing its first list of candidates for the forthcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

Among the prominent figures featured in BJP's initial list of 29 candidates are Parvesh Verma, Ramesh Bidhuri, and Manjinder Singh Sirsa.

Parvesh Verma has been nominated to contest from the New Delhi constituency, where he will face off against AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, thereby putting an end to the speculation surrounding which BJP heavyweight would take on the former Chief Minister.

The BJP has also selected former MP Ramesh Bidhuri to challenge Delhi Chief Minister Atishi in the Kalkaji constituency, creating a three-way contest in this high-profile area, with Congress’s Alka Lamba also vying for the same seat.

Kailash Gehlot, who recently transitioned from AAP to BJP, is set to run from Brijwasan.

In the BJP's first list of 29 candidates, there are two women candidates highlighted.

The release of BJP’s candidate list comes after AAP has already disclosed its candidates and Congress has also published several names.

Voting in the national capital is scheduled for February, with experts anticipating that the official election dates will be announced shortly.

The ruling AAP is relying on its numerous electoral promises, including Sanjeevni and Mahila Samman Yojana, while the BJP accuses it of misappropriating public funds and defrauding the residents of Delhi with its deceptive policies. Congress has intensified its critique, holding AAP accountable for transforming the city into a ‘gas chamber’.

The latest escalation in the BJP and AAP exchange featured Prime Minister Narendra Modi ridiculing the local administration as ‘Aap-da’ and warning the public against its deceptive promises, while AAP attempted to counter by labeling it ‘aashirvaad’.
