New Delhi, Jan 27 (NationPress) In an initiative aimed at enhancing public health services, the Delhi government has broadened dialysis offerings at the Indira Gandhi Hospital (IGH) located in Dwarka, as announced by Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh on Tuesday.

He emphasized that this new initiative strengthens the Delhi government’s pledge, under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, to provide accessible, timely, and quality healthcare to every resident.

As part of this expansion, dialysis facilities at the hospital have been notably improved, increasing the number of dialysis beds and machines from 35 to 50, Singh stated.

“The enhancement of dialysis, radiology, and OT services, along with specialized offerings such as the Brain Health Clinic at IGH Dwarka, reflects our dedication to alleviating patient strain and ensuring timely care. We aim not just to enhance infrastructure but also to guarantee compassionate, comprehensive, and outcome-focused treatment for the people of Delhi,” Singh remarked.

This upgrade is anticipated to significantly decrease waiting times for patients while ensuring quicker, uninterrupted renal care, he added.

Additionally, to bolster diagnostic capabilities, a 500 mA X-Ray machine has been introduced in the Radiology Department, specifically for emergency and trauma cases, allowing for faster and more precise imaging for critical patients, according to the Minister’s statement.

To enhance surgical readiness, Operation Theatre (OT) hours have now been extended from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., which will ensure increased availability of surgical procedures and improved patient outcomes.

Moreover, IGH has launched corneal retrieval services in partnership with the AIIMS Corneal Retrieval Centre, a move aimed at promoting eye donation and improving transplant services for visually impaired individuals, as stated by the Health Minister.

Furthermore, the hospital has positioned itself as a vital center for neurological and mental health services through its Brain Health Clinic, inaugurated in May 2025.

This clinic provides integrated neurological and psychiatric care, handling 20-30 neurology patients and 15-20 psychiatry and psychology patients daily.

It offers thorough treatment and counseling for conditions such as headaches, seizures, strokes, and behavioral issues, ensuring holistic and patient-centric care under one roof, he mentioned.

These advancements signify the Delhi government’s ongoing commitment to fortifying healthcare infrastructure, broadening specialized services, and enhancing emergency preparedness across public hospitals.
