New Delhi, July 8 (NationPress) Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh announced on Tuesday that by the end of this month, every government hospital in Delhi will be equipped with a Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra, guaranteeing access to affordable medications for everyone.
"We are working at a rapid pace to upgrade and expand the healthcare infrastructure of Delhi. It is essential for every citizen to have access to quality medical treatment, whether it be for dialysis, diagnostics, or traditional wellness services," stated Singh following a Health Department review meeting.
He reaffirmed the Delhi Government’s pledge to enhance the city’s healthcare system, ensuring that every resident has affordable and accessible medical services.
During the meeting, senior officials informed the Minister about the Burari Hospital's plan to improve critical care by adding 55 dialysis machines, a crucial development given the high population density in Burari and nearby areas.
The Minister was also updated that 21 Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras have already been launched in Delhi government hospitals.
As part of a significant upgrade in diagnostic services, Delhi will unveil a Model Diagnostic Laboratory for the public by August this year, capable of conducting 118 essential health tests. These labs will enhance routine diagnostics to promote early detection and preventative care.
In a significant advancement for holistic health, the AYUSH Department of the Delhi Government will soon establish a dedicated Mental and Wellness Centre at Burari Hospital, aimed at addressing issues like anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions.
Drawing on India’s traditional healing systems, this center will provide integrated healthcare through preventive measures and lifestyle disease management.
The initiative will start as a pilot project, and if successful, similar facilities will be introduced in other government hospitals across Delhi.
The Health Minister instructed senior officials to ensure that Ayushman Bharat cardholders face no issues during hospital admissions or health check-ups in Delhi government-empanelled facilities.
He emphasized that under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Government is committed to offering world-class, inclusive, and affordable healthcare to the residents of Delhi through innovative and sustained healthcare policies.
