New Delhi, Feb 26 (NationPress) In celebration of the one-year mark of the Delhi government, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, along with city BJP President Virendra Sachdeva and New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj, conducted a public outreach initiative on Thursday as part of the Vikas Yatra series.
Sachdeva highlighted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) issues a Sankalp Patra during elections, contrasting it with traditional manifestos released by other parties.
He expressed pride in the fact that numerous promises made during the electoral campaign have been realized, with groundwork laid for additional commitments.
The Delhi BJP president further stated that the Sankalp Patra represents more than mere electoral pledges for the BJP; it is a trustworthy commitment to implement plans.
He acknowledged that the expectations set by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta have been fulfilled within a year, instilling a sense of pride among citizens.
Recalling the blooming of the lotus in Delhi, he mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi once asserted that a developed India’s journey passes through Delhi, making a developed Delhi crucial for national progress.
Sachdeva remarked that Delhi is currently advancing steadily on its development journey, emphasizing the importance of communicating these achievements to every household.
The event saw coordination by MP Yogendra Chandolia. Notable attendees included Delhi Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, along with various district leaders and MLAs such as Satish Upadhyay, Harish Khurana, Neeraj Basoya, Anil Sharma, Shikha Rai, and Umang Bajaj, among others.
New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj remarked that the formation of Rekha Gupta’s government has rekindled public enthusiasm—not merely for electoral success but for genuine development.
Rapid development initiatives are underway in the New Delhi parliamentary constituency, including an announcement of Rs 2,100 crore for Delhi Jal Board projects during the Todapur meeting, along with allocations of Rs 10 crore for Rajendra Nagar, Rs 128 crore for Malviya Nagar, and Rs 100 crore each for Greater Kailash and R.K. Puram Assembly constituencies.
Swaraj also highlighted the establishment of 14 Atal Canteens in the New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, offering nutritious meals to the underprivileged at just Rs 5.
Development projects include a multi-storey parking facility in GK-1, de-silting of the Baramullah drain to avert waterlogging, the 400 Kusk Nala Bus Depot, and the initiation of the Devi Bus service from Lodhi Colony. Moreover, 139 Chhath Ghats have been developed, including 10 model ghats.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that she began as a party worker and continues to embrace that role, now with added responsibilities.
She emphasized that the government must act swiftly, having received public support after a 27-year struggle, and fulfilling the public's expectations is their foremost duty.
According to her, during the previous administration under Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party, it was unheard of for Rs 100 crore worth of work to take place in every assembly constituency. In contrast, her government is now executing at least Rs 100 crore worth of projects in each constituency.
“Whether it involves MLAs, municipal councillors, or MPs, everyone is focused on development-driven politics. In just 365 days, significant strides have been made to meet Delhi’s fundamental needs, which include sewer systems, pipelines, cleaning the Yamuna, pollution control, and enhancing transport infrastructure,” she remarked.
The Chief Minister reiterated that as part of a triple-engine government, whether funds are allocated to MPs, MLAs, or councillors, the outcome will reach the populace without any competition for credit.
She concluded by noting that work is progressing across Delhi with the construction of 40-foot overbridges and several flyovers, assuring that each year, Delhi will showcase visible transformation.
