Delhi L-G Engages with Over 600 Senior Citizens for Grievance Resolution

New Delhi, Dec 24 (NationPress) In the second installment of the 'Samvaad@Raj Niwas' dialogue series organized by Raj Niwas, Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena engaged with more than 600 senior citizens on Tuesday, issuing directives aimed at resolving their issues.

BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj from New Delhi was present during the interaction between L-G Saxena and the elderly attendees from various parts of the city.

In a post shared on social media, L-G Saxena stated, 'This marks the second interaction with senior citizens in just over a week. I was pleased to inform the gathering that specific instructions for addressing their grievances related to safety, recreation, road safety, and medical emergencies have been directed to Delhi Police, DDA, PWD, and MCD, and these will be resolved promptly.'

A significant number of seniors from different areas such as Krishna Nagar, Khari Baoli, Dwarka, Paharganj, Shahdara, Keshavpuram, Pilanji, and Palam Colony raised concerns including issues like waterlogging, poorly lit areas, harassment, bureaucratic delays at government offices, encroachments on footpaths, traffic congestion, and both cyber and street crime, as reported by an official.

The L-G reaffirmed his dedication to addressing the issues affecting senior citizens, emphasizing their immense importance to society due to their wisdom and experience.

Additionally, he ordered Delhi Police to conduct weekly discussions with senior citizens alongside ongoing initiatives for the elderly.

L-G Saxena also instructed the police to enhance patrolling in areas identified as vulnerable.

'Civic amenities are currently being assessed by relevant agencies to ensure they cater to senior citizens. I also requested the Divisional Commissioner to establish dedicated help desks in District Magistrate offices to facilitate dispute resolution for senior citizens,' he mentioned in a post on X.

He added that the presence of elders within families is not only a source of endless blessings but also a reservoir of knowledge derived from years of personal experience.

In the inaugural edition of 'Samvaad@Raj Niwas' on December 20, the L-G had engaged with over 500 principals/teachers representing more than 5,000 private schools in Delhi, which serve lakhs of students.

'We discussed crucial topics such as the challenges in executing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, student mental health, teacher training, government negligence, and transportation and infrastructure issues,' the L-G wrote in a post.

'I was pleased to inform the audience that measures have been initiated to address the FAR issue for additional classrooms,' he stated, adding that while teachers raised concerns about recent bomb threats and cyber crimes, they also commended the police for managing these situations efficiently and effectively.
