L-G Saxena Inspects Areas in Delhi, Describes Residents' Situation as Distressing

New Delhi, Dec 22 (NationPress) While the AAP is actively campaigning for the Delhi Assembly elections and rolling out various public welfare schemes to attract voters, Lieutenant Governor V. K. Saxena expressed his discontent on Sunday over the insufficient basic amenities and services present in certain areas of the national capital, declaring the situation faced by residents there as distressing.

In a message shared on the social media platform X, the L-G remarked: "It is profoundly disappointing and troubling to witness the desperation and unfortunate circumstances endured by lakhs of individuals in the capital."

He posted images showcasing open drains and residents voicing their concerns about exorbitant power bills after visiting Rangpuri Pahari in South Delhi and Kapashera in Southwest Delhi. The L-G stated: "The foul-smelling water pooling in the streets and lanes is not the result of rain but rather overflowing sewage. The women discussing their challenges are residents of Delhi, not from any other state."

During the L-G's tour of these neighborhoods, he was accompanied by South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri and various officials.

The claims made by the Delhi government regarding the provision of free electricity were dismissed by the L-G, who noted: "Residents in the area reported insufficient power supply, erratic water provision, and inadequate waste management. Many residents faced daily power outages lasting 8-10 hours and displayed their inflated electricity bills."

The L-G promised that a cleanliness initiative would commence on Monday, assuring that he would oversee the AAP government's endeavors to guarantee that residents receive fundamental services.

He urged Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal to visit these areas and take action to resolve the issues confronted by the public.

The L-G also called for collective efforts to restore the greatness of Delhi.

Following the Lieutenant Governor's post on social media, Kejriwal addressed the media, stating: "We will tackle all the deficiencies he has pointed out."

Kejriwal added that he encouraged the L-G to highlight the shortcomings, assuring, "we will address them."
