Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 16 (NationPress) In a significant enhancement to Delhi’s urban infrastructure and traffic management, Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta officially opened a cutting-edge multi-level car parking facility at Nehru Place District Centre in South Delhi on Monday.
Chief Minister Gupta noted that numerous parking initiatives proposed during prior administrations have been stuck in bureaucratic limbo, but the BJP government has successfully inaugurated an automatic multi-level parking facility in Punjabi Bagh and a modern automatic shuttle parking facility in Greater Kailash within just one year.
She emphasized that the acceleration of languished development projects in Delhi reflects the collective will of the populace.
Expressing her appreciation for the Lieutenant Governor’s direction, she acknowledged his critical role in the milestones achieved during the government’s inaugural year.
Providing specifics about the new multi-level parking structure, CM Gupta mentioned that the facility, comprising six stories, can hold 650 four-wheelers and 352 two-wheelers at once.
This facility is anticipated to accommodate around 2,000 vehicles daily on a rotational basis. She pointed out that this development is vital, considering Delhi’s escalating parking demands.
Furthermore, she mentioned that a detailed plan is underway to create parks or parking areas on available DDA land in regions experiencing severe parking deficits.
Among those attending the event were South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, DDA Vice Chairman N. Saravana Kumar, and various senior DDA officials.
The Chief Minister remarked that previous Delhi governments failed to establish effective collaboration with the Centre and the Lieutenant Governor, resulting in numerous public welfare projects remaining incomplete for years.
She stated that in the first year of the BJP administration, the Lieutenant Governor actively participated in site inspections and consistently monitored projects related to drain cleaning, road construction, and infrastructure enhancement.
His commitment to serving the residents of Delhi persisted even during times of governance stagnation.
According to the Chief Minister, under the leadership of the Lieutenant Governor and with the support of the Central government, the Delhi government is closely collaborating and achieving tangible outcomes.
“Through these collaborative efforts, we are making rapid progress toward transforming Delhi into a cleaner, better-organized, and more developed city,” she concluded.
