In New Delhi, on November 22 (NationPress), the Delhi Minister for Social Welfare, Ravinder Indraj Singh, provided free assistive devices valued at Rs 13 lakh to approximately 160 elderly citizens as part of the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana in Qutubgarh, Bawana, this past Saturday.

Minister Indraj emphasized that in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Antyodaya vision, top-notch assistive devices were made available during the camp.

The range of devices included wheelchairs, walkers, wheel-bearing commodes, hearing aids, spectacles, silicone foam pillows, spinal support belts, knee braces, cervical collars, and various other assistive kits.

He remarked that the current administration has supplied more assistive devices to senior citizens in the past eight months than what the previous government managed in a span of five years.

During this event, the Cabinet Minister paid homage to Veerangana Jhalkari Bai Koli Ji, asserting that the Delhi government is devoted to honoring significant figures, valiant women, and martyrs within society.

He highlighted that, for the first time, the names of such esteemed individuals are being added to the official list of honored personalities by the Delhi government—individuals who were overlooked by prior administrations.

The Social Welfare Minister encouraged residents to notify the department if there are any senior citizens in their households or communities in need of assistive devices due to age or health conditions.

He stated that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has mandated that every elderly citizen should fully benefit from the welfare schemes offered by the Delhi government.

Indraj affirmed that the government is committed to ensuring the safety and convenience of senior citizens.

Regular camps are being organized to distribute high-quality devices, and air-conditioners have been installed in recreation centers of old-age homes to combat the summer heat, he noted.

He mentioned that he celebrated Diwali at the Bindapur Old Age Home and, during the Seva Pakhwada, devices worth Rs 8 lakh were distributed, with the Savitribai Phule Old Age Home in Paschim Vihar also receiving upgraded facilities.

Ravinder Indraj expressed that the department views it as a moral obligation to guarantee that assistive devices reach every household that requires them.

Continuous monitoring is being executed to ensure that eligible elderly individuals and those with disabilities receive these benefits seamlessly. Regular assessment camps will also be held to ensure that no one in need is overlooked.
