Kolkata, July 28 (NationPress) The Chief of BJP’s Information Technology Cell and the party's central observer for West Bengal, Amit Malviya, asserted on Monday that the Delhi Police has refuted the assertions made by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding an incident where a Bengali-speaking woman and her son were allegedly attacked under the pretext of Aadhaar verification in Delhi.

Malviya shared a video snippet featuring a senior official from the Delhi Police who stated that a thorough investigation was conducted immediately following the claims made by Banerjee.

According to the BJP leader, quoting the senior Delhi Police officer, the woman depicted in the video shared by Banerjee was identified as Sajnur Parveen, the spouse of Mukhtar Khan and a resident of Majbur Nagar, West Vinod Nagar, Delhi.

“She, along with her husband and mother-in-law, underwent a detailed examination. Initially, they reported that on July 25, four individuals dressed in civilian clothes, claiming to be police officers, visited their home for Aadhaar verification and accused them of being Bangladeshi nationals. The next day (July 26), the woman alleged that she was forcibly taken with her two children to a park near Manglam Hospital Red Light by four individuals, who supposedly detained them and released them only after a ransom of Rs 25,000 was paid. However, during the investigation, numerous contradictions and inconsistencies were found in their statements,” Malviya asserted.

He added that CCTV footage from the alleged date and time clearly demonstrated that Parveen was leaving her residence with her children alone at 12:03 p.m., contradicting her claims of being abducted.

“Call Detail Records (CDRs) and location data do not corroborate their story of alleged ransom calls or any detention by officials. Furthermore, statements from independent witnesses do not support the family's version,” Malviya noted.

He also mentioned that upon confronting her with evidence and contradictions, Parveen admitted to fabricating her story under the influence of certain individuals.

“She confessed that she got lost on July 26 and, on the suggestion of a reporter (contacted through her uncle, a political worker), a false narrative was created, and the video was disseminated in the media. During the investigation, audio-video recordings of all involved parties' statements were made. Technical analyses (CCTV and CDRs) along with eyewitness accounts conclusively indicate that no incident of police misconduct, abduction, or extortion transpired,” Malviya stated.

According to him, the subsequent investigation revealed that the alleged events of abduction, extortion, and police malpractice, as presented in the viral social media post, were fabricated and unfounded; no such incident occurred as described in the viral video and tweet.

“It's disgraceful that Mamata Banerjee spreads misinformation,” Malviya concluded.

Point of View

It is crucial to approach this story with a focus on factual reporting. The allegations made by Mamata Banerjee are serious and warrant thorough investigation. However, the findings presented by Amit Malviya and the Delhi Police raise significant doubts about the credibility of the claims.
