New Delhi, March 23 (NationPress) In the recent report presented by the Economic Survey 2025-26, it was highlighted that Delhi's government schools achieved a remarkable pass percentage of 97.7% for Class 10 and an impressive 98.3% for Class 12 during the academic year 2024-25. This data was shared by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in the State Assembly.
The survey revealed that there are 1,270 government and government-aided schools in Delhi, which accounted for 39.75% of the total enrolment in the 2024-25 academic session.
On the subject of higher education, the report indicated that the university's capacity for various technical and professional courses in the 2025-26 session is set at 4,664.
Furthermore, the Delhi government has initiated 75 CM SHRI Schools under the Directorate of Education from the academic year 2025–26, marking a significant advancement towards educational excellence and equity.
These institutions are designed to be innovative, future-ready schools, aligned with the National Education Policy of 2020.
In terms of tourism, the report stated that Delhi remains a primary destination for both international and domestic tourists, ranking sixth in total foreign tourist visits in 2024, with a 9.55% share according to the India Tourism Data Compendium-2025.
The Economic Survey also noted the growing demand for power in the city, observing that the peak power demand surged from 5,846 MW in 2015-16 to 8,442 MW in 2025-26.
Around 4.40 lakh senior citizens (as of March 2026), approximately 4.09 lakh women in distress (as of January 2026), and about 1.40 lakh individuals with special needs (as of March 2026) have received monthly financial support from the Social Welfare Department in the current fiscal year 2025-26.
The Economic Survey further detailed the free ration scheme, stating that the Public Distribution network of the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, consisting of 1,953 fair price shops, is serving 72.21 lakh beneficiaries through 17.18 lakh digital food security cards as of March 31, 2025. These cards are linked to Aadhaar.
Under the Public Distribution System in Delhi, the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) provides 35 kg of foodgrains monthly (28 kg wheat and 7 kg rice) to AAY households, and 5 kg of foodgrains monthly (4 kg wheat and 1 kg rice) for priority household beneficiaries, all free of cost. Additionally, all AAY cardholders receive 1 kg of sugar at no charge.
