Gurugram, Jan 21 (NationPress) Union Minister Rao Inderjeet Singh announced that the construction of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) connecting Delhi to Shahjahanpur will commence shortly.

He mentioned that prior to the Union Budget, he had discussions with Union Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal regarding the project, urging the completion of all necessary formalities.

Rao stated that the estimated cost for the project is approximately Rs 22,000 crore, and work will begin soon.

This initiative is expected to be a significant advancement for public transportation in the region, facilitating easier travel for residents to both Delhi and Rajasthan.

He noted that the project had undergone revisions, with a proposal initially suggesting the first phase extend from Delhi to Dharuhera.

During the Lok Sabha elections, he engaged with the former Union Urban Development Minister Hardeep Puri, advocating for the project to be extended to Shahjapur in the first phase.

Rao confirmed that the proposal to extend the project from Delhi to Shahjahanpur in the first phase was agreed upon by the Union Minister.

In the first phase, the train will travel to Shahjahanpur via Gurugram, Manesar, Bilaspur, Dharuhera, Rewari, and Bawal Neemrana, covering a distance of about 100 kilometers.

He indicated that 22 stations are planned along this route, with preparations for an action plan underway. Initially, the plan involved a route starting from Mahipalpur in Delhi and passing through Old Delhi Road Signature Tower in Gurugram, but it has since been revised to follow the highway along the Delhi Jaipur National Highway via Sarhaul Border.

Under this new plan, the route will now proceed towards Manesar, passing through Cyber City, IFFCO Chowk, and Rajiv Chowk.

The minister highlighted that the route will remain underground until Hero Honda Chowk in Gurugram, and will extend to Shahjapur beyond this point.
