Jaipur, March 5 (NationPress) The Chief Secretary of Rajasthan, V. Srinivas, along with his Haryana counterpart, Anurag Rastogi, conducted a video conference on Thursday to discuss the Namo Bharat Rail Corridor project.

The meeting took place at the Government Secretariat and primarily addressed the financial and implementation details of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor.

During the conference, Srinivas announced that the Rajasthan government has committed to covering the financial costs for the initial phase of the RRTS project according to the updated Detailed Project Report (DPR).

As per the revised plan, 1.13 km of the total 105.20 km corridor will be situated in Rajasthan, causing the state's financial share of the project to rise from Rs 103 crore to Rs 124.26 crore.

However, he highlighted that the Haryana government's choice to limit its financial responsibility to Bawal would impose an additional financial burden of approximately Rs 510 crore on Rajasthan.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), both states were expected to cover 20 percent of their respective shares of the project costs.

Sources revealed that the Rajasthan Chief Secretary urged the Haryana government to reassess its decision.

The Haryana Chief Secretary assured that the situation would be reviewed, and a decision would be communicated soon.

Officials emphasized that the corridor is set to enhance high-speed rail connectivity between Delhi, Gurugram, and important industrial hubs such as Shahjahanpur, Ghiloth, Neemrana, and Behror, as well as the proposed KBNIR township.

This project is anticipated to significantly foster economic growth and improve transportation links in the region, benefiting all segments of society.

Also present at the meeting were Additional Chief Secretary (Industries and Commerce) Shikhar Agarwal, Principal Secretary (Finance) Vaibhav Galaria, Principal Secretary (Urban Development) Devashish Prishti, RIICO Managing Director Shivangi Swarnkar, Executive Director Akash Tomar, and senior RIICO official Ajay Gupta.
