New Delhi, Oct 16 (NationPress) In a bid to transform Delhi into the “Creative Capital of India”, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta revealed on Thursday that the capital will host over 30 cultural events, both Indian and international, in the upcoming 80 days.
To establish Delhi as an ‘Event-Friendly City’, the Chief Minister announced significant reductions in the rental fees for major stadiums and auditoriums. Furthermore, these venues will undergo upgrades to meet international standards, reflecting the government's commitment to enhancing the “Concert Economy”.
The Chief Minister introduced a single-window system aimed at streamlining event permissions, logistics, and security, thereby fostering the growth of Delhi’s live entertainment sector.
She emphasized the government’s dedication to promoting cultural diversity and national unity, guided by the motto “Virasat Bhi – Vikas Bhi” (Heritage and Development).
During a press conference at the Delhi Secretariat, accompanied by Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra, the Chief Minister forecasted a vibrant wave of music and culture in the national capital, featuring performances from acclaimed artists such as Travis Scott, Krishna Das, Zakir Khan, Papon, AP Dhillon, Armaan Malik, Jonita Gandhi, Radhika Das, and numerous other stars.
This initiative, a collaboration between the Delhi Government, the Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA), and the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), aims to uphold high standards for these events, ensuring they run smoothly without administrative or logistical hurdles, while offering complete enjoyment for the audience.
The Chief Minister noted that the “Concert Economy” is a vital economic sector that warrants serious attention from state authorities.
She expressed appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya for their ongoing support, which has empowered the Delhi Government to initiate substantial progress in this area.
Reflecting on the past, the Chief Minister noted that event organizers previously hesitated to host large concerts in Delhi due to inadequate facilities and institutional backing.
“Recognizing this challenge, the government has made a pivotal decision to lower the rental rates for all major stadiums under both the Central and Delhi Governments—such as Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Indira Gandhi Stadium, National Stadium, Thyagaraj Stadium, and Chhatrasal Stadium—and enhance their facilities to international standards,” she stated.
