Jaipur, Sep 30 (NationPress) Dharmendra Mehta, a resident of Neemrana in Rajasthan, was highlighted in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent address during an event in Rajasthan, and he has pledged to promote awareness about solar energy production.
Dharmendra Mehta, hailing from Sanoli village in Neemrana, along with a few others, received commendation from PM Modi for their exceptional contributions to solar energy generation, which brought them into the public eye.
In an interview with IANS today, Dharmendra shared that he and his family are dedicated to raising awareness about solar energy.
“Our goal is to boost the number of solar plants in the upcoming years,” he stated.
“The Prime Minister invited us to the launch of the 845 MW Kusum scheme. During the event, he inaugurated the 845 MW component we installed and inquired about our achievements. Our first plant began operations on June 18, 2021, followed by the second plant on September 26, 2024. The first plant produces around 11,000 units daily, while the second generates about 19,000 units, totaling nearly 30,000 units for the DISCOM,” he elaborated.
On September 25, during the celebration of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Jayanti, PM Modi engaged with beneficiaries of the PM-KUSUM scheme and expressed his contentment regarding the positive effects of this initiative on farmers’ livelihoods. He emphasized that the scheme not only enhances income but also boosts confidence among beneficiaries.
PM Modi also interacted with several prominent solar power advocates, including Pappu Devi (Phalodi), Dharmendra Kumar (Kotputli), Jagdish Meghwal (Pratapgarh), Ramchandra Singh (Jodhpur), Prem Singh Kuntal (Bharatpur), and Sangharsh (Arthuna, Banswara).
Significantly, the PM KUSUM (Prime Minister Kisan Energy Security and Upliftment Campaign) aims to increase solar capacity by 34,800 MW by March 2026, with a total central financial support of Rs 34,422 crore, including service charges for implementing agencies.
