DIG Addresses Controversy Over Viral Video of Conception Guidance for Schoolgirls

Bhopal, Jan 11 (NationPress) A video showcasing a senior female police officer in Madhya Pradesh giving counsel to teenage schoolgirls regarding the dos and don'ts for conceiving bright babies has gained widespread attention and criticism. Nevertheless, the officer is undisturbed by the backlash and emphasizes that the disseminated video clip “lacks context.”

The guidance was provided by the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Savita Sohane, during an awareness initiative in Shahdol district, Madhya Pradesh.

The issue became prominent after a video circulated online, displaying DIG Sohane discussing 'conception' with students in a classroom setting.

During her interaction with the girls at a government higher secondary school, Sohane shared specific insights regarding conception.

“Avoid conceiving on Purnima. Offer water to the Sun while bowing down to ensure the birth of 'ojaswi (bright)' offspring,” she was recorded saying.

Sohane, who is unmarried, also engaged the students in a conversation about planning for future generations, querying, “How are you going to approach bringing forth a new generation on Earth?”

This advice was part of the 'Mai Hun Abhimanyu' program initiated by the Madhya Pradesh government.

The 'Mai Hun Abhimanyu' campaign aims to prevent crimes against women and children while fostering a secure environment for them.

As part of this initiative, school administrations collaborate with local police to conduct various programs aimed at raising awareness about women's safety.

Activities within the campaign include panel discussions, community involvement, guest lectures, and more.

In response to the viral video, Sohane informed reporters that she often addresses school audiences as part of the 'Mai Hoon Abhimanyu' program, which focuses on ensuring a safe atmosphere and promoting respect for girls.

She clarified that her lecture stemmed from her personal spiritual journey, which involves reading scriptures and listening to sermons.

Regarding her remarks on avoiding conception during a full moon, she explained its significance as a revered time in Hinduism.

Sohane, who began her career in education before joining the police force 31 years ago, stressed that her extensive discussion centered around the importance of respecting girls, especially in light of ongoing crimes against women and children.

She firmly believes that the video clip circulating online lacks context.
