NCP MLA Calls for Comprehensive Discussion on Ajit Pawar Plane Crash Investigation
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 12 (NationPress) MLA Sunil Shelke from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) urged the Legislative Assembly on Thursday to facilitate a transparent and thorough discussion regarding the investigation into the plane crash that tragically involved the late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
Shelke highlighted the necessity of uncovering the truth about the incident and the ongoing inquiry, insisting that the findings be made known to the citizens of Maharashtra. He also suggested that the International Cricket Stadium located in Gahunje, Pune district, be renamed in honor of the late leader.
During the budgetary discussions, Shelke raised significant concerns regarding the unfortunate accident.
“There are many questions and uncertainties surrounding this crash. Why were the pilots abruptly changed? What prompted the alteration of the take-off schedule? What caused the delay, and why was a landing attempted under poor visibility conditions?” he questioned.
He further emphasized that while various investigative agencies are involved, the inquiry should be free from any external influences.
Shelke expressed his hope that the investigation would be conducted impartially and reveal the complete truth to the public.
In his remarks, he also condemned certain factions for trying to politicize the incident and assign it a “communal angle” following the leader’s passing.
He reaffirmed the commitment of party members and leaders to the Pawar family, stating: “We are firmly united behind the Pawar family. Our loyalty is unwavering towards Ajit Dada and his family. We are fully supporting Sunetra Pawar as she steps into a leadership role.”
Shelke reiterated the need for a comprehensive discussion in the Assembly to determine whether the incident was merely an accident or a deliberate act of sabotage.
He specifically urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to present the investigation results to the public prior to the conclusion of the ongoing session.
In conclusion, he called upon the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) to formally rename the International Cricket Stadium in Gahunje, Pune, in memory of the late Ajit Pawar, acknowledging his invaluable contributions.
Earlier, an NCP delegation, including ministers and MLAs, submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, advocating for an expedited investigation into the tragic demise of former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who perished in a plane crash on January 28 in Baramati.
This delegation included Women and Child Welfare Minister Aditi Tatkare, along with legislators Chetan Tupe, Sulabha Khodke, Sana Malik, Saroj Ahire, Anil Patil, and Shekhar Nikam, who all urged the state government to ensure that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) complete their current investigations and release a detailed final report as soon as possible.
According to an official statement from the NCP, the party leadership expressed concern over the slow pace of the ongoing investigation.
The memorandum also stresses the need for transparency and technical clarity regarding the plane crash that resulted in the untimely death of the leader.
