Key Takeaways
Chennai, Feb 18 (NationPress) Premalatha Vijayakanth, the general secretary of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), announced that her party will disclose its decision regarding an electoral alliance at an appropriate moment. She indicated a willingness to consider the formation of a coalition government that would share power in Tamil Nadu.
While addressing journalists at the Chennai airport, Premalatha mentioned that the party leadership is meticulously assessing its options in light of the upcoming Assembly elections.
"We will make a thoughtful decision concerning alliances at the right time," she stated, hinting that discussions are in progress but refraining from providing details.
On the recent Budget presented by the State, she adopted a cautious stance.
Regarding the government's assertion of 30 key announcements within the Budget, she remarked that she would provide a thorough response only after a complete review of the document.
"With elections just three months away, can these announcements realistically be delivered? Or are they intended for a new government to carry forward? These are critical questions that require clarification," she argued.
Premalatha asserted that Tamil Nadu deserves a government that not only makes announcements but also effectively implements initiatives that truly serve the populace.
She stressed the importance of fiscal responsibility and the timely execution of welfare and development programs.
Regarding the potential for a coalition government, she expressed that such a scenario could represent a "positive change" for the State.
"If the opportunity for a coalition government with shared power emerges in Tamil Nadu, it would be advantageous. This would signify a positive transition. Let the election results unfold," she commented, keeping the possibility of post-poll alliances open.
During a recent gathering at the Isha Centre, Premalatha mentioned she had met with Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and L. Murugan, former Tamil Nadu Minister S.P. Velumani, and Puducherry Ministers as a courtesy visit.
On Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent trip to the State, she stated, "If his visit brings benefits to Tamil Nadu, we will welcome it," reaffirming her party's commitment to the welfare of the State over political maneuvering.
