An official from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in Imphal reported that Khemchand Singh met with the Union DoNER Minister in New Delhi.
During their discussion, Scindia highlighted the DoNER Ministry's financial backing for a polo initiative in Manipur, recognized as the game's origin.
He emphasized the Ministry's dedication to safeguarding and promoting this sport, which is deeply woven into the cultural and historical fabric of the state.
Scindia further reassured Khemchand Singh that the DoNER Ministry would provide comprehensive support and facilitate coordination with various Central Ministries regarding any issues affecting Manipur.
The Union Minister noted that his Ministry is actively engaged in multiple projects aimed at enhancing the development of the entire Northeastern region.
Later that day, the Chief Minister also held discussions with Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on a range of matters pertinent to Manipur.
Khemchand Singh was accompanied by his two Deputy Chief Ministers—Losii Dikho of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) and Nemcha Kipgen, a representative of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
It is noteworthy that Kipgen, who is a member of the Kuki community, comes from the tribal-populated Kangpokpi district and is the first woman to hold the position of Deputy Chief Minister in Manipur. This visit marks Khemchand Singh's initial trip to the national capital following his swearing-in as Manipur’s new BJP Chief Minister on February 4.
In a separate meeting earlier in the day, the Chief Minister met with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who pledged to provide all possible assistance to revitalize the state’s financial condition and economy.
Additionally, on the same day, Khemchand Singh conferred with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who assured him of full support and cooperation from his Ministry in all initiatives by the Manipur government.
The Manipur Chief Minister, currently in New Delhi since Saturday, also had meetings with BJP National President J P Nadda and National General Secretary (Organisation) B L Santhosh to address party-related matters concerning Manipur.
On Sunday, alongside his two Deputy Chief Ministers, he engaged with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss various issues, including the rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs), according to officials in Imphal.
As per the CMO official, the Home Minister deliberated with the three leaders from Manipur on the actions taken by the newly formed state government to dismantle divisions among different communities and restore peace and harmony within the state.
