Gurugram, April 21 (NationPress) In a disturbing event, an SUV operated by an inebriated driver and its passengers assaulted a collective of 11 motorcycle riders on the Dwarka Expressway in Gurugram.
An official confirmed that a case has been registered under applicable sections of the Bharatiya Nayay Sanhita (BNS) against the alleged perpetrators at the Sector-37 police station in Gurugram.
According to sources, footage of the incident circulated widely, showing a man in a t-shirt and yellow shorts vandalizing a sports bike in plain view on the Dwarka Expressway.
The complainant, identified as Hardik Sharma, a resident of Sector-46, reported to the police that on Sunday morning, he ventured out for breakfast with friends and encountered his group of 11 companions near Cyber City (Ambience Area).
“As we rode leisurely toward the Manesar toll, a black Scorpio with the registration number DL4CBE1750 began driving recklessly and attempted to provoke us around 7:20 am on Sunday. We pulled over under the Dwarka Expressway to let them pass, but they halted their SUV in front of us. There were four individuals in the SUV, visibly intoxicated, and they began assaulting us and damaging the motorcycles,” the complainant recounted to the police.
He further stated that the entire confrontation was captured on video and in photographs. They attempted to harm my friends, and when I intervened, I was struck on the head with an iron baseball bat.
“I was fortunate to have been wearing a helmet. Following this, they completely wrecked my bike when they noticed a crowd beginning to gather. All of them then fled in their SUV, issuing threats to my life,” the complainant relayed to the police.
“We narrowly escaped from the assailants. All of them were intoxicated; two of them attacked us, while two others joined in. We left the scene as they began to demolish our sports bike. I was struck with an iron baseball bat, resulting in a fracture in my hand. We provided the vehicle number to the police. They must take appropriate action against them,” Sharma told IANS.
