BJP's Nishikant Dubey demands probe into Rahul Gandhi's 270 foreign trips
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Nishikant Dubey on Thursday, 22 October 2026, called for a formal investigation into the overseas travels of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, accusing Gandhi and other opposition leaders of 'conspiring with foreign forces to destabilise the country.' Dubey made the allegations at a press conference in Dumka, Jharkhand.
The Core Allegations
Dubey claimed that Gandhi had travelled abroad approximately 270 times over the past 10 years and demanded scrutiny of those meetings. 'There should be an investigation into whom Rahul Gandhi met, the people he came in contact with during his foreign visits, and those who participated in the Bharat Jodo Yatra,' the BJP MP said.
He further alleged that a 'fake protest movement' had recently been attempted in the national capital, which he described as 'part of a conspiracy to create instability in the country through networks linked to artificial intelligence (AI), cryptocurrency, Bitcoin and online gambling.'
US Report and Financial Networks
Dubey also referred to what he described as a US report linked to the Congress and the network of Neville Roy Singham, raising questions about financial ecosystems associated with Bitcoin, cryptocurrency, and online gambling. He alleged these contacts were being used in 'conspiracies aimed at creating instability in the country.' No independent verification of these claims was available at the time of reporting.
The 'Gen Z' Protest Question
Dubey also weighed in on protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, questioning their characterisation as a 'Gen Z' movement.
His remarks came a day after the Delhi High Court on Wednesday questioned whether Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka — aged 27 and 32 respectively — could technically be described as Gen Z, while hearing their plea challenging the extension of their judicial custody in the Jantar Mantar trespassing case. Dubey cited these observations to challenge the framing of the protest movement.
Jabs at Gandhi and Opposition Figures
Taking a personal jibe at Gandhi, Dubey remarked: 'Merely wearing a T-shirt and jeans does not make someone young.' He also pointed to the participation of senior advocate Prashant Bhushan, political activist Yogendra Yadav, and Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Brinda Karat in the recent protests, arguing that these were veteran faces of prior agitation movements rather than fresh youth voices.
The Congress had not issued an official response to Dubey's allegations at the time of publication. The remarks mark a fresh escalation in BJP-Congress political hostilities ahead of ongoing state political cycles.
