EAM Jaishankar to Embark on Official Visit to Qatar and Bahrain

New Delhi, Dec 6 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar is set to initiate a two-nation journey to Qatar and Bahrain starting Saturday, aimed at further bolstering the multifaceted relationships between India and these nations.
The EAM will be in Doha on December 6-7 to partake in the Doha Forum at the invitation of Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
This marks the 22nd edition of the Doha Forum, themed 'The Innovation Imperative'.
The forum serves as a global dialogue platform, uniting policy leaders to discuss pressing challenges confronting our world, and to forge innovative and action-oriented networks.
"As the world faces disruptive forces affecting security, climate, economies, and the international order, the urgency for innovative collaborative approaches has never been greater. In an evolving landscape, innovation is not merely advantageous - it is essential. Organizations, systems, and societies that fail to innovate risk being disrupted," the forum elaborates.
The 2024 edition will uphold the tradition of meaningful dialogue, showcasing a variety of perspectives aimed at generating actionable insights as participants delve into key sub-themes such as geopolitics, emerging technologies, security, economic development, and cultural diplomacy.
On the second part of his visit, EAM Jaishankar will head to Bahrain on December 8-9, where he will co-chair the 4th India-Bahrain High Joint Commission (HJC) alongside the Foreign Minister of Bahrain, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) states that the ministerial meeting will assess the full spectrum of bilateral relations and explore ways to further strengthen the India-Bahrain partnership.
The EAM is also scheduled to participate in the 20th edition of the IISS Manama Dialogue in Bahrain on December 8, which focuses on 'Middle East leadership in shaping regional prosperity and security'.
In a recent event, Vinod K Jacob, India’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, pointed out a 40 percent rise in mutual investments since 2019, with the total currently exceeding USD 1.62 billion.
"Analyzing the latest data from the Government of Bahrain, Indian investments from Q2 2023 to Q2 2024 amounted to USD 265 million, marking a significant increase compared to USD 200 million from Q1 2023 to Q1 2024. It is also noteworthy that several esteemed Indian brands have recently opted to enter or enhance their engagement in the Bahraini market," Jacob remarked during the inaugural 'New Age' event organized by the Bahrain Chapter of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (BCICAI) on November 29.
