Patna, Nov 1 (NationPress) The Election Commission of India has taken significant steps in the investigation of the Dularchand Yadav murder case in Mokama, resulting in the transfer of four officials, including Patna Rural SP Vikram Sihag. Additionally, suspension proceedings have been initiated against one officer.
Ashish Kumar, a 2022-batch IAS officer currently serving as Additional Municipal Commissioner in the Patna Municipal Corporation, will now take over as SDO in Barh, replacing Chandan Kumar.
CID Dy SP Anand Kumar Singh is reassigned to Barh-I SDPO, taking over from Rakesh Kumar, while ATS DSP Ayush Srivastava will serve as Barh-II SDPO, succeeding Abhishek Singh.
The Commission has also taken action against Patna Rural SP Vikram Sihag and has requested a comprehensive report on the case by 12 noon on November 2.
This decision follows the EC’s earlier directives to the Bihar DGP and Patna DM, demanding a report on the events surrounding Dularchand Yadav's murder.
The incident is connected to the altercation between supporters of JD(U) candidate Anant Singh and Jan Suraj candidate Piyush Priyadarshi, also known as Lallu Mukhiya, in the Mokama assembly constituency.
Initial reports suggested that Dularchand Yadav was shot, but the post-mortem findings indicated that he died from injuries sustained when a vehicle ran over his chest, leading to multiple fractures and ruptured lungs.
The autopsy, conducted by a panel of three doctors in Barh, lasted nearly two hours in the presence of a magistrate.
According to Patna SSP Kartikeya S. Sharma, four FIRs have been filed thus far, including those lodged by both candidates, one for MCC violation, and another related to stone-pelting during the transportation of the body for post-mortem.
Several individuals have been arrested, and multiple suspects are currently under investigation.
The SSP confirmed that the situation in Mokama is presently under control, with additional police forces deployed and video evidence being scrutinized.
In response to threats made by Dularchand’s grandson, the SSP emphasized that strict measures will be taken against anyone attempting to disrupt law and order.
He urged the public to refrain from spreading rumors and misinformation circulating on social media, noting that two SHOs have already faced suspension for negligence.
Further information will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
