New Delhi, Dec 2 (NationPress) The national telemedicine initiative eSanjeevani has successfully enabled more than 43 crore consultations up to November 23, as reported by the Union Minister for Health, Prataprao Jadhav, during a session in Parliament.

eSanjeevani aims to be an inclusive and accessible resource, delivering free teleconsultation services to everyone, thereby ensuring that even economically disadvantaged individuals can access quality healthcare.

“The services are operational in all 28 states and 8 Union Territories of India, having facilitated over 43 crore consultations as of November 23, 2025,” Jadhav stated in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.

“Although the platform does not track the socioeconomic status of users, its extensive usage, particularly in rural and underserved regions, suggests that many underprivileged individuals have accessed vital healthcare services without financial constraints,” he added.

eSanjeevani is integrated with the key elements of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) platform.

The ABDM initiative was launched with the goal of creating a national digital health ecosystem that promotes universal health coverage in a manner that is efficient, accessible, inclusive, affordable, timely, and safe.

This mission seeks to establish the necessary foundation to support the integrated digital health infrastructure of the country and to bridge the digital divide.

“eSanjeevani aligns with the core components of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, such as the Healthcare Professionals Registry, Health Facility Registry, ABHA integration, and interoperable electronic health records. The integration of ABDM with eSanjeevani allows for ABHA creation, linking, and sharing of digital health records,” the Minister remarked.

“This greatly enhances India’s digital public infrastructure and national interoperability,” he concluded.

eSanjeevani was initially launched in November 2019 as a provider-to-provider telemedicine system, based on a hub-and-spoke model. In April 2020, it transitioned to a patient-to-provider telemedicine system, enabling citizens to access outpatient services from the comfort of their homes, ensuring safe provider-to-patient consultations.

Point of View

ESanjeevani represents a significant leap towards equitable healthcare access in India. Its ability to provide free consultations to economically disadvantaged populations underscores the government's commitment to inclusivity in health services. This initiative not only addresses immediate healthcare needs but also strengthens the digital health infrastructure in the country, marking a progressive step in public health policy.
