Family Claims Hospital Negligence Led to Woman's Death in Gurugram

Gurugram, Jan 10 (NationPress) The relatives of a woman who passed away last week are claiming that she took her last breath at Saksham Health Care hospital due to the negligence of the hospital administration, as stated by the police.
The family of the deceased has lodged a formal complaint against the hospital administration at the Kherki Daula Police Station to initiate further investigation.
As per police reports, the husband of the 30-year-old victim, a resident of Manesar, contends that his wife's death resulted from medical negligence.
On Thursday, the police confirmed they received a complaint against Saksham Health Care Hospital in Sector-83 Manesar. They plan to forward the case for an initial inquiry to the Gurugram health department to secure approval for further investigation, as is customary in cases involving medical professionals.
The complaint states that Manoj Yadav admitted his wife, Monika Yadav, for delivery around 9 a.m. on January 5.
Dr. Shikha Parashar at Saksham Health Care Hospital conducted a normal delivery at approximately 2:20 p.m., resulting in the birth of a male child.
"After the delivery, she was responding positively. The doctors advised us to return home as the medical staff would monitor her condition. However, around 6:40 p.m., her health worsened due to bleeding, which the doctor failed to manage, leading to her passing at the hospital," said Manoj to IANS.
He alleged that the hospital administration did not provide an ambulance in a timely manner and failed to utilize a blood unit, despite it being arranged by the family.
"My wife was in severe pain, pleading for help. When I informed the doctors about her pain, they dismissed it as normal, assuring me she would recover soon. Shortly after, she lost consciousness. The doctors then placed her in an ambulance and instructed me to rush her to another hospital because her case was beyond their capabilities," the complaint detailed.
"She was declared dead at the hospital, but in an attempt to mislead us, they transferred my wife to another private facility, where we were informed she had passed away several hours earlier," Manoj asserted.
The doctors initially quoted a treatment cost of around Rs 80,000 and charged Rs 50,000 post-delivery, he noted.
"We have submitted a complaint at the Kherki Daula Police Station regarding Monika's death due to medical negligence and have also filed a report with the Gurgaon civil surgeon," he added.
When reached for comment, the hospital administration stated that this was an unusual case of death.
"Despite all possible care and efforts, Monika succumbed on January 5. The patient had previously undergone a cesarean delivery for her first child, yet the family insisted on a normal delivery. We informed them of the potential risks associated with normal delivery, but they were adamant. Post-delivery, she suffered from Postpartum Hemorrhage (PPH), which is severe bleeding after childbirth. The family was made aware of her critical condition prior to the delivery," Dr. Shikha Parashar explained.
"We have received a complaint against the hospital administration, and the matter is currently under investigation. We are also awaiting the autopsy report of the deceased and are in communication with the health department. Appropriate actions will be taken based on the findings," stated Virender Khatri, Station House Officer of Kherki Daula Police Station.
