FIR Filed as Four Cases of Voter Fraud Emerge in Okhla, Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 26 (NationPress) An effort to register as voters using forged electricity bills and fake Aadhaar cards by four individuals from the Okhla Assembly constituency was uncovered by election department officials, resulting in the filing of an FIR, as stated by an official on Thursday.
The FIR was lodged at the Police Station Shaheen Bagh following a complaint from the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of Assembly Constituency-52 (Okhla), according to the official.
The forgery was revealed during standard application verification conducted by the ERO. Three applications were accompanied by forged BSES electricity bills, while another contained a copy of a forged Aadhaar card, the official mentioned.
“Based on the evidence submitted and an initial investigation, a case has been registered under the legal codes concerning forgery with intent to deceive under section 336 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and for utilizing forged documents as authentic under section 340 BNS,” said a police officer.
The police are continuing their investigations to locate the accused and any potential accomplices or networks involved in these fraudulent actions.
A representative from Delhi Police emphasized their commitment to preserving the integrity of the electoral process.
“Any attempts to manipulate or undermine the system through illegal actions will face stringent consequences. This case highlights the need for vigilance in maintaining the integrity of voter registrations and ensuring free and fair elections,” he stated.
The police will persist in their collaboration with the Election Commission and other relevant bodies to identify and avert similar incidents in the future and to uphold the principles of free and fair elections, he added.
This incident arises amidst allegations from the BJP claiming that the ruling AAP has issued election cards to illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya immigrants residing in the city to bolster its support base.
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva has asserted that his party has initiated a campaign to disenfranchise illegally settled Rohingyas and Bangladeshis and to remove them from India.
The ruling AAP and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal refute the existence of any illegal voters in the electoral rolls, condemning the BJP for its attempts to diminish the ruling party's votes through the deletion of names from the list.
