President Murmu to Inaugurate Jagannath Temple in Jamshedpur
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
On Thursday, Jamshedpur (Jharkhand) will witness a significant event as President Droupadi Murmu arrives to lay the cornerstone for the Shri Jagannath Temple project, which has an estimated budget of Rs 100 crore. This temple will be situated along Marine Drive in Kadma.
In addition to this ceremonial occasion, the President plans to visit the Manipal TATA Medical College in Jamshedpur and engage with the students.
As preparations ramp up for her visit, local authorities and event organizers have set up seating areas, installed barricades, and implemented a robust security framework to accommodate the expected large turnout.
The temple complex is being developed by the Shri Jagannath Spiritual and Cultural Charitable Centre and will cover approximately 2.5 acres on Marine Drive. The main temple will occupy 1.5 acres, while an additional 1 acre will be dedicated to a spiritual and cultural center.
The architectural concept for the temple is inspired by the renowned Jagannath Temple in Puri. The sanctum will house the idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra, along with other deities, as per information from the trust.
Officials estimate that the temple will be finished within four years, while the associated cultural center may be ready in about two years. Upon completion, this complex is expected to become a major religious and cultural site in Jamshedpur.
The cultural center aims to provide value-based education and foster personality development among youth, drawing insights from scriptures like the Bhagavad Gita.
President Murmu's schedule indicates her arrival at about 12:20 p.m. and departure at 1:20 p.m. following her address to the audience.
Notable attendees at the ceremony will include Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
