Patna, March 2 (NationPress) At least two individuals were injured after a parking dispute transformed into a shooting incident in Bihar's Gopalganj on Sunday.

The confrontation took place around 4 a.m. during a Tilak ceremony at the home of a local resident, Shambhu Turha's son, Bittu, in the Mirganj area.

The main victim, identified as Digvijay Singh Kushwaha, a resident of Ward No. 15 and son of Surendra Singh, was present at the ceremony when the parking dispute began. The situation escalated quickly, leading to several rounds of gunfire, resulting in Digvijay suffering a gunshot wound that caused serious injuries.

After the incident, Kushwaha was first taken to Hathua Sub-Divisional Hospital. Due to the gravity of his injuries, he was subsequently referred to a more advanced medical facility for treatment. Another person also incurred minor injuries during the conflict.

Local police acted swiftly, cordoning off the area to carry out a comprehensive investigation.

Authorities retrieved two spent bullet casings and one live cartridge from the scene. Currently, no formal complaints have been filed by the victims' families, and the identities of the assailants remain unknown.

The police are actively pursuing the investigation to capture those responsible. This incident has raised concerns among locals regarding safety at both public and private gatherings, highlighting the necessity for effective conflict resolution and improved security at such events.

The clash instigated widespread panic in the vicinity. The Mirganj police arrived promptly, secured the area, and assured residents of decisive action.

Hathua Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Anand Mohan Gupta commented, “The clash emerged from a parking dispute between two groups in Ward No. 2 of the Mirganj police station. Efforts are ongoing to identify the alleged perpetrators.”

After the incident, the suspects fled the scene. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed, and investigations are continuing. Authorities are diligently working to apprehend the offenders.
