Bhopal, May 28 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, has expressed strong support for the recent decision by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs to greenlight two significant multi-tracking railway initiatives. These projects aim to enhance transportation efficiency for both passengers and freight.
Included in these initiatives is the establishment of a third and fourth railway line connecting Ratlam and Nagda, along with an additional fourth line linking Wardha and Balharshah in Maharashtra.
These developments are pivotal as they will aid India in achieving its climate targets by decreasing oil imports by 20 crore liters and cutting down CO2 emissions by 99 crore kg, in addition to delivering economic advantages.
Furthermore, the railway expansion is expected to create around 74 lakh human-days of direct employment throughout the construction phase.
In a statement shared on his X handle, CM Mohan Yadav remarked, "The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, under the esteemed leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved two multi-tracking projects for Indian Railways. These initiatives will greatly improve connectivity in both Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, directly benefiting approximately 784 villages with a total population of 19.74 lakh. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Honourable Prime Minister on behalf of the citizens of Madhya Pradesh for this remarkable initiative."
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sanctioned these projects on Wednesday. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized that these endeavors will enhance infrastructure along the Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Chennai economic corridors, alleviating congestion and improving transportation flow.
The total projected cost for these projects stands at around Rs 3,399 crore, with an anticipated completion date set for 2029-30.
These initiatives are aligned with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, which prioritizes integrated planning to ensure seamless multi-modal connectivity for the movement of people, goods, and services.
Spanning four districts across Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, the new railway lines will contribute an estimated 176 km to the existing Indian Railways network.
These routes are crucial for transporting essential commodities like coal, cement, clinker, gypsum, fly ash, containers, agricultural products, and petroleum goods. The increased capacity is expected to handle an additional 18.40 MTPA (Million Tonnes Per Annum) of freight traffic, thereby enhancing logistics efficiency.
These advancements are projected to improve travel convenience, streamline supply chains, and stimulate economic growth by boosting logistical efficiency. Enhanced rail capacity will lead to superior operational performance and service reliability, ultimately reducing congestion.
In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a self-reliant India, these projects will promote regional development, generating new job and self-employment opportunities for local communities.
