Gujarat Government Allocates ₹28.68 Crore for Tourism and Pilgrimage Site Development

At the Uparkot Fort, Rs 1.07 crore has been set aside for initial development phases to bolster visitor facilities. This project encompasses the construction of a compound wall at the Majevadi Gate, improved parking options, and the establishment of a tourist information center.
Future plans also include the installation of two lifts to enhance accessibility for all visitors.
The largest funding allocation of Rs 20.09 crore is directed towards extensive development at the Harshad Mata Temple, a prominent pilgrimage destination.
For additional religious sites, the government has approved Rs 60.64 lakh for enhancements at the Shree Bahuchar Mataji Temple in Mehsana, which includes paving and solar system installations. Another Rs 49.80 lakh is allocated for improvements at the Shree Khodiyar Temple in Amreli, covering a satsang hall and a parking shed.
In total, these two projects will consume Rs 1.10 crore for public amenities. Additionally, Rs 1.80 crore has been earmarked for the development of the Ghatkeshwar Mahadev Temple in Valsad, which will feature a riverfront ghat, landscaping, a children's play area, and parking facilities, positioning it as a new tourism hotspot.
To further support heritage conservation, Rs 3.36 crore is designated for the restoration of the historic Gandhi Ashram, founded by Mahatma Gandhi in 1917, located in Godhra of Panchmahal district.
Moreover, Rs 1.25 crore has been allocated for organizing the upcoming ‘Dang Darbar-2026’, a traditional tribal cultural event in Dang district.
The government asserts that these approved initiatives aim to bolster tourism infrastructure, enhancing the experience for visitors and devotees throughout the state.
