Gandhinagar, Feb 19 (NationPress) On Thursday, the Gujarat government endorsed 23 proposals for land distribution aimed at pivotal state departments, a strategic move to enhance water supply, energy, and port infrastructure throughout various districts in the state.
This decision emerged during a Cabinet session led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, underlining the government's commitment to fast-tracking infrastructure improvement and bolstering essential public utility services.
Government spokesperson and Minister Jitu Vaghani announced the approvals designed to support initiatives related to water supply systems, expansion of power infrastructure, and port development efforts in different regions.
“During today’s Cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister sanctioned 23 land allocation proposals for water supply, energy, and port development,” Vaghani shared with reporters about the resolutions made.
As stated by the minister, the Revenue Department has designated a total of 1,22,53,096 square metres of land to various organizations, including the Gujarat Water Supply Board, Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation (JETCO), Gujarat Power Corporation Limited, and the Gujarat Maritime Board.
The allocations cover numerous districts and are aimed at fostering development-focused infrastructure projects in both rural and urban settings, promoting balanced regional growth and enhanced public services.
“The primary goal is to fortify infrastructure facilities in both rural and urban locales,” Vaghani noted, stressing that significant projects would be executed on the granted land, directly benefiting the local populace by improving access to vital services.
The largest portion of land has been allocated to Gujarat Power Corporation Limited, receiving approximately 1,20,60,000 square metres at Radha Nesda in Banaskantha district for energy-related infrastructure enhancement.
Additionally, around 1,36,291 square metres have been assigned to the Gujarat Water Supply Board across 14 different sites to bolster water supply infrastructure and ensure better availability of drinking water. JETCO has been allocated about 31,010 square metres at seven locations statewide to upgrade and fortify the electricity transmission network and associated infrastructure.
The Gujarat Maritime Board has been granted 25,795 square metres of land at Katpar in Mahuva for port development and related maritime infrastructure growth.
Vaghani mentioned that land designated for water supply initiatives has been distributed in the districts of Tapi, Morbi, Gir Somnath, Chhota Udepur, Kutch, Valsad, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, and Botad, ensuring enhanced drinking water supply infrastructure in these areas.
JETCO has received land in Gir Somnath, Chhota Udepur, Porbandar, Valsad, Rajkot, and Sabarkantha districts. The minister emphasized that these allocations will improve drinking water facilities and amplify power transmission and supply capabilities across the state.
He also pointed out that Gujarat is set to reach new benchmarks in the renewable energy sector due to the infrastructure initiatives planned for the allocated land, supporting the state’s long-term energy sustainability and security objectives.
This Cabinet decision, he concluded, demonstrates the government’s unwavering commitment to enhancing Gujarat’s core infrastructure and guaranteeing effective delivery of essential services to citizens in both rural and urban areas.
