Gandhinagar, March 23 (NationPress) The e-Nagar portal has successfully executed over 18 lakh transactions in the fiscal year 2025-26, amassing a remarkable revenue of Rs 1,031 crore, which underscores the increasing reliance on a consolidated digital platform for urban civic services in Gujarat, according to a government announcement made on Monday.
Officials revealed that the portal, created under the auspices of the Gujarat Urban Development Mission, has enabled more than 1.24 crore transactions, with a total revenue surpassing Rs 6,076 crore. This trend indicates a persistent embrace of digital solutions by citizens throughout urban regions.
This initiative is a key component of the broader digital governance strategy spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who initiated the Digital India mission aimed at enhancing the ease of living for every citizen through effective technology utilization.
“In Gujarat, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, we are witnessing unprecedented advancements in digital transformation and citizen-focused governance,” officials emphasized.
The e-Nagar portal consolidates various municipal services onto a single interface, allowing residents to easily access services such as filing complaints, applying for shop licenses, registering marriages, obtaining building permissions, and paying professional tax, property tax, and estate rent.
Moreover, it facilitates hall bookings and the management of water and drainage connections, all of which can now be conducted online from the comfort of one’s home.
The portal is available around the clock and offers several payment methods, including cards, UPI, and net banking. Users can monitor their applications in real-time and download certificates and receipts directly from the platform.
Highlighting its technological features, officials stated, “An AI chatbot has been integrated to assist users in easily accessing information,” and the platform's collaboration with 'Bhashini' ensures availability in 23 languages, enhancing accessibility for users from various linguistic backgrounds.
Officials noted that the system has significantly minimized paperwork, removed the necessity of waiting in lengthy queues at municipal offices, and accelerated service delivery while enhancing transparency.
“Citizens can now conveniently pay fees, taxes, and other charges from any location, complete registrations, and obtain certificates online,” the government remarked, noting that this initiative has fortified the interaction between citizens and the administration.
Data provided by the government indicated that in 2024-25, the portal achieved 26 lakh transactions and generated revenue of Rs 1,522 crore.
The government affirmed that the e-Nagar project stands as an integrated digital framework through which “all services are accessible to citizens at one location.”
