Ahmedabad, July 23 (NationPress) The Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has introduced the Scheme for Promotion of Registration of Employers and Employees (SPREE). This initiative aims to assist unregistered employers in enrolling with the ESIC.
The registration period for this scheme will be active until December 31. It is essential for all businesses with more than 10 employees to register with ESIC.
Many industries within the city remained unregistered for various reasons until last year, but significant changes are anticipated this year.
All private firms and factories are given a deadline of December 31 to complete their registration with ESIC.
According to Hemant Kumar Pandey, ESIC Regional Director of Ahmedabad, the SPREE initiative was launched by the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
Employers and employees who have previously not been registered under ESIC can now enroll through this scheme. No contributions or records will be required for the timeframe prior to their registration.
Additionally, ESIC has commenced the establishment of medical colleges, with an announcement made this year regarding the opening of 10 medical colleges. One of these institutions has already been launched in Ahmedabad, where children of beneficiary employees are admitted while receiving education for a nominal fee of up to Rs 2,000 per month.
Furthermore, should an employee face a serious illness, ESIC will cover their medication and treatment costs. From now on, all employees will benefit from cashless healthcare services under ESIC.
“There are currently 11 hospitals and 103 dispensaries operating in Gujarat. We have partnered with private hospitals for services that our facilities do not provide,” he mentioned.
He also revealed that in addition to medical services, cash benefits will also be made available.
“If an employee is incapacitated due to a prolonged illness and their employer does not provide a salary, ESIC will compensate them for those days. Along with that, arrangements for free treatment will also be made,” he stated.
