Gujarat Police Recruitment: Did Over 50,000 Candidates Pass the Physical Tests?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Gandhinagar, Jan 30 (NationPress) Over 50,000 candidates have successfully completed the physical efficiency test in the ongoing recruitment drive for the Gujarat Police, representing a major achievement in one of the state's most extensive and technologically advanced selection procedures, as reported by officials on Friday.
As per the data provided by the Gujarat Police Recruitment Board (GPRB), from January 22 to January 29, a total of 187,874 candidates were invited to participate in the physical test.
Among them, 116,075 candidates showed up, with 50,383 qualifying. The recruitment is aimed at filling 13,591 vacancies across the PSI and Lokrakshak (LRD) categories, with more than 1 million candidates vying for positions statewide.
GPRB Chairperson Neerja Gotru stated that the process is designed to guarantee complete transparency, accuracy, and fairness, heavily relying on technology.
“This recruitment drive is not only extensive in scale but also structured as a fully transparent and zero-error process, where candidates are selected solely based on merit and effort,” she mentioned.
The physical efficiency tests are being conducted across 15 designated cities and State Reserve Police training centers in Gujarat.
Tests for male candidates are ongoing at 11 grounds and will continue until March 13, 2026, while those for women and ex-servicemen are taking place at four grounds until March 6, 2026.
All tests are overseen by specialist medical officers from the Health Department.
Officials have introduced advanced technological systems at every stage to prevent errors or malpractice. RFID chips are attached to candidates’ legs during running events, allowing for automatic time recording with second-level precision.
Mandatory biometric verification using fingerprints and facial recognition occurs at multiple stages, with the entire process being monitored through CCTV surveillance.
Height and chest measurements are digitally logged, with candidates receiving photographic proof of the measurements displayed on-screen.
An on-site Appeal Board has been established at each ground to resolve grievances related to measurements or procedures. This board consists of four members, including an SP-rank officer and a medical officer, conducting re-verification under the supervision of senior officials.
Gotru emphasized the goal of ensuring that candidates, including those from remote regions, can engage with full confidence in the fairness of the system.
A central control room in Gandhinagar has been set up for real-time monitoring of all testing centers, she added.
Facilities such as drinking water, ORS, medical teams, and 108 ambulance services have been arranged at all venues to ensure candidate safety.
Results of the physical tests are provided immediately through the digital system.
For security and oversight, each testing ground is monitored by a DIGP or SP-rank officer, supported by more than 90 police personnel, while DIGP and IGP-level officers have been assigned comprehensive supervisory responsibilities.
