Ahmedabad, Nov 9 (NationPress) The Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, Harsh Sanghavi, officially opened a newly built, cutting-edge Civil Court facility at Uchhal in the Tapi district on Sunday.
Constructed at a projected cost of Rs 7 crore, this modern structure is designed to enhance the accessibility and convenience of judicial services for the local populace.
During his address, Sanghavi highlighted that this new court represents a historic achievement for the border region between Gujarat and Maharashtra, where even the railway platform provides views of both states.
Despite the unique administrative hurdles in this area, the judiciary in Tapi has effectively maintained law and order, he stated. The Deputy CM praised the local judiciary for its commitment to delivering prompt and accessible justice, particularly for tribal and border communities.
Sanghavi pointed out the facility's inclusive design, which incorporates modern amenities tailored for lawyers, women, and witnesses, ensuring their comfort and safety during legal proceedings.
He underscored the joint commitment of the government and judiciary to improve transparency and efficiency through digital infrastructure, guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Gujarat has led several initiatives in this regard, becoming the first state in India to livestream High Court sessions on YouTube, setting new standards for judicial transparency.
Furthermore, he mentioned that innovations such as virtual courts, e-filing, and paperless systems have become essential components of India's judicial reform. Quoting Prime Minister Modi, he remarked, "Justice is always simple and clear, but intricate processes complicate it. It is our collective duty to streamline those processes."
The Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court, Justice D.M. Vyas, commended the collaboration with the state government, stating that the new court building symbolizes hope for equitable, timely, and transparent justice for citizens in remote areas. Principal District Judge Tejas Desai noted that the new facility will greatly enhance the delivery of unbiased justice in Uchhal.
During the event, the Deputy CM also recognized the Vyara police team for solving a jewelry theft case within 48 hours and returning the recovered items to the affected family.
The ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Tapi District Panchayat President Jalim Singh Vasava, former President Surajbhai Vasava, District Police Chief Jashu Desai, senior judges, bar association members, administrative officials, and local residents.
