Morena (Madhya Pradesh), Sep 21 (NationPress) A fierce gunfight broke out between two rival factions in the Mata Vasaiya police station vicinity of Morena district on Sunday, allegedly due to a prolonged financial dispute surrounding a Rs 4 lakh loan.

This violent confrontation, which persisted for nearly an hour, has caused significant alarm and is spreading rapidly across social media, thanks to a viral video capturing both groups engaging in reckless gunfire.

As reported by police officials, the clash took place in the village of Nake, where one faction had lent Rs 4 lakh to the other. Continuous demands for repayment had heightened tensions over the preceding weeks. At approximately 7 a.m., armed members from both groups arrived and commenced firing at one another in broad daylight, resulting in panic among local inhabitants.

Witnesses recounted a scene of utter chaos, with bullets whizzing by and villagers scurrying for safety. Local businesses were compelled to close, and many residents barricaded themselves indoors, apprehensive of further violence.

The viral footage, which starkly depicts individuals from both sides firing at close range, raises alarming questions about the prevalence of illegal firearms and the worsening law enforcement situation.

Fortunately, there were no reported casualties despite the severe gunfire. Local law enforcement authorities have confirmed that an investigation is underway.

A senior officer from the Mata Vasaiya police station remarked, “We are scrutinizing the video evidence and collecting statements from witnesses. We will take stringent action against anyone found guilty of disrupting public tranquility.”

This incident is part of an escalating series of violent clashes within the Morena district.

Just weeks prior, a similar shootout in the Pachbigaha region of Joura resulted in nine injuries stemming from a different financial disagreement.

The recurrence of such incidents has ignited calls for enhanced enforcement against illegal weaponry and improved conflict resolution strategies.

Authorities have urged the public to come forward with any information, assuring that the identities of informants will remain confidential. The district administration is anticipated to reassess security measures in high-risk areas to avert future incidents and restore community trust.
